We’re working on something related to this for the upcoming release of Second Brain – Your Personal Internet Library.

We will connect to all the services you publish content to via APIs, add it to your personal library, and then show your stream of internet content activities aggregated on your profile page. In the Second Brain community you will be able to follow your contacts’ internet activities across the many services that they use.

We have a preview release now in closed beta, a public beta release is scheduled for the 1st. of October. Test Pilots get to see it first.

There’s a website called Natuba.com that gives you a place to build your own lifestream–it’s in beta still and invite-only, but I got invited and love it. It’s a great short cut for folks who want to catch up on what I’m doing when my main website is only part of the picture. I’m not sure how an ideastream would work in such a system, though. Still, thought I’d mention it.

When I first ran across Steve Rubel's post on lifestreams I had thought it a pretty nifty idea, but after doing some expanding reading I'm even more intrigued.

I really liked Steven Hodson's post that you mentioned - the idea of bringing tagging into the mix would allow a much more controlled stream of information.

However, as you said, the inconsistent tagging by millions of people would be hard to figure out how to use to parse data from a feed. That is one tough nut to crack.

I'm going to be following this a bit more - there seems to be more uses for an aggregated data stream than just for one's online minutia.

Hi Brian,

Great to see the Lifestreaming idea coming back for a second and third round.

Another great way of using a lifestream is to use it as a stream of your Attention Data.

We have set up a service at http://www.engagd.com that lets you import your lifestream and create a living APML file.

The APML file is an XML file that lists your interests in a format that software can read. You can learn more about it at http://www.apml.org

It is our hope that many applications will begin supporting this format so that you can personalize your Internet experience by taking your interests with you!

thanks for the hat tip about ideastreaming and the such. this is something that I have been thinking on for away in round about ways and that post is probably the first of a few that I will write on the idea as I work through it because I think that something like this could potentially be an interesting and valuable for us to learn and grow.
