Brian, thank you for the thoughtful post! So glad to see this. As an old wire service hand and the wife of a newspaper editor, I don't pretend to be objective, but here goes anyway.... Mainstream media is extremely relevant. In fact, as MSM continues to feel the squeeze of budget cuts and the digital overhaul, big opportunities arise for well-written, robust content--in the form of press releases. Thanks for pointing out that a hybrid approach is the way to go.

Monika Maeckle
Business Wire

Brian,

This leaderboard is a very interesting resource and definitely proves the effectiveness of a lot of things ... not the least of which is traditional PR. One additional point to note is the fact that, of the thousands upon thousands of points reached by PR Newswire, many of those sites write posts/stories from press releases! In addition, there are over 51,000 referrals to Biz.Yahoo of content issued over our wire! http://www.technorati.com/search/http%3A%2F%2Fbiz.yahoo.com%2Fprnews)
I'd like to believe that this would raise our % somewhat ;-)

As usual, thanks for the great post!!!

David Weiner
PR Newswire
