This is a great article, Brian! I really believe the lines between media and blogs are going to significantly blur in the coming year and that many bloggers need to be very careful of what they do and how because PR firms, while focusing on them now, will start to back away as more of bloggers break the rules, put demands on them, or break trust. These kinds of problems were rarely seen in traditional media (at least in my 9 years of PR experience), and at the end of the day, the only loyalty business has, really, is to itself. Clients, and ultimately their firms, will go with who is reliable, trustworthy, high traffic and most of all, who gets them the best exposure. I'm not sure that it'll be blogs down the road.

Just my .2 :)

Brian:

Most PR firms don't have the guts to admit when something goes wrong. But real leaders do because they know they, too, are human, and even better learn from these experiences. Kudos, my friend.

I am fascinated by the continuing blogger relations developments. Personally, we need them, but at the same time know that we cannot have any of the same expectations of "journalistic" integrity from them. It's a one by one case, as you say. Everyone's got a six shooter, and can write what they want.
