Web 2.2 Starts Tomorrow – Agenda and Topics Published

Chris Heuer sent a note that the Web 2.2 agenda is coming together based on several high quality proposals that were made for the talk topics. But, they also need your input (see below). If you have suggestions, all is not lost, as there will be open space sessions that will run concurrently (except for the Thursday morning BrainJams which they encourage everyone to participate in, and possibly the ‘Surprise!’ sessions.) The Web 2.2 team is seeking feedback on the…

Web 2.3 and Beyond, What’s Really Next?

Chris Heuer, host and event organizer of Web 2point2, has requested that participants write blog posts to facilitate topics for the board to consider for the Main Talks or the “How To” sessions. Here’s another idea: As more and more events spring up and parties become the new business mixers, we can’t help but scream, “the bubble is back.” But, I’d like to learn about what really lays ahead for the new Web. With the barrier to entry so low,…

Tags, Tag Beacons, Naming Conventions

Since Chris Heuer, host and event organizer of Web 2point2, has requested that participants write blog posts to facilitate topics for the board to consider for the Main Talks or the “How To” sessions, I thought I’d keep the ideas flowing. I’d like to see a discussion of new opportunities for Tags outside of Technorati. Greg Narain of BlueWhale Labs and Social Roots and I were speaking about the idea of Tag Beacons recently during the Webguild Web 2.0 event…

New Topic Idea for Web2point2

Since Chris Heuer, host and event organizer of 2point2, has requested that participants write blog posts to facilitate topics for the board to consider as topics for the Main Talks or the “How To” sessions, I thought I’d keep the ideas flowing. I’d like to see a discussion of new opportunities for Tags outside of Technorati. Web 2point2 – The Point is Still People

O’Reilly’s Web 2.0 conference will be in town and it will completely fly over the heads of those who are truly behind the new web and the real source behind the percolating enthusiasm in the Valley. Chris Heuer saw the opportunity to create an annual event specifically for those people who are already looking beyond “web 2.0.” Based on last year’s successful Web 2.1 “un conference,” this year’s Web 2.2 event will be held on November 9th and 10th in…

Social Media Club Forms Working Group to Develop New Standard for Press Release

On the heels of its official launch, Social Media Club (SMC) formed the Media Release Working Group to begin development of the hRelease , a new standard for modernizing the traditional press release for a Web-centric world. The Media Release Working Group will work closely with the Microformats community, while evaluating other technologies such as XPRL, XBRL, and NewsML to establish a standard way of organizing, tagging, distributing, and sharing ‘official’ organizational communications among blogs and other online communities. The…

September SF NewTech Meetup

On the heels of the Silicon Valley NewTech Meetup in Palo Alto on Tuesday, I spent the day in San Francisco at the Social Media Club HQ specifically to attend my first SF event – well that and a million other things on the SF to do list. Organized by Joel Sacks, CNET and Marketing Strategist at BuzzShout, and Myles Weissleder, VP of Communications for Meetup, SF NewTech Meetup is similar in format to the Silicon Valley event, but targeted…

Six Degrees of Social Media

Today I spent my day at the SocialMediaClub HQ working on the official announcement for the working group dedicated to developing a new, social media aware standard for press releases. This is exciting stuff and I really believe that this is the sign of many new things to come that will (and already is) fundementally changing the PR industry and its targets. Some of the most influential, smart, and visionary people are already on board, including: Chris Heuer, Social Media…

STIRR 1.5 – I prefer my networking events stirred, not shaken

The August STIRR mixer was held last night at Blue Chalk in Palo Alto and it was a HOT event – literally. No A/C on a hot August night…but still, the place was packed until the very end. Photo Credit: Ian Kennedy This was STIRR’s fifth event and appeared to be its biggest to date. What sets STIRR apart is that it is an effective mix of “live” social and business networking among a highly qualified crowd of tech innovators,…
