Blame it on the youth they say. Indeed, there’s a great assumption that the future of technology falls in the hands of emergent generations. The youth of today will someday represent the majority of consumers, employees and citizens. That’s always the case, but what we don’t yet fully appreciate is just how different young adults think today. We don’t yet understand what it is they value and why. We’ve not yet assimilated how they make decisions and what factors influence their daily activities and journeys.

Today’s web is an endless 24/7 cycle fed by content and social actions. In this cycle, brands are realizing that content is currency and social actions are the transactions in this marketplace for eyeballs and attention. To remain relevant, not only do brands need to produce more interesting, useful and more timely content, they need to adapt to a new “social publishing model” to best feed the social graph and this hungry cycle.

CES 2010 is the next stop for all gadget lovers and technologists. In many ways, the holidays and the slower pace that ensues serve as an excuse to recharge so that we may effectively travel the miles of booths featuring new electronics, tech, and consumer products.

Wikipedia tells us that active listening is an intent to “listen for meaning”. Others suggest that active listening should “focus on who you are listening to, whether in a group or one-on-one, in order to understand what he or she is saying.”
These are excellent definitions. But as it relates to customer interactions on the social web, active listening is only one half of the equation.
I’m fascinated and inspired by the unity, education, and collaboration spurred by the socialization of media. The sources for insight, artistry, and influence have proliferated globally, giving voices to, and creating communities for, every day people who share ideas, passion, and aspirations.
The Social Revolution is Our Industrial Revolution
In the past, I’ve spoken at PR, tech, and communications events about Social Media and how companies can engage in the conversations taking place with or without them. As much as I wanted to look into the future, I was rooted in the present as a means to connect it to the past. There are just too many new things to introduce to people and even more reasons why they should care.
CES 2007 is the electronics event of the year and there are no signs of slowing down. The sheer volume of companies, new electronics, gadget lovers, deal makers and media is deafening and entrancing.
Some of the more fascinating elements about CES that you probably won’t read anywhere but here, pertain to the socialization of information and not so much the technology and gadgets themselves. CES has a global audience and a global attendance. And, for five days, we all convene at the LVCC, Sands, among the dozens of simultaneous events globalize information.
Today I had the opportunity to attend Intel’s launch for its new Core 2 Duo processors. It had the “humbled,” yet significant importance, in my opinion, as the launch of the orginal Pentium chip, while still tapping into the power of next gen media.
It was fun, exciting, beautifully decorated, and more importantly, PACKED with everyone that matters in tech influence.
The event celebrated the launch of the company’s new processor that runs faster, but uses a lot less power.
