Web Two Oh Chronicles – November Silicon Valley NewTech Meetup

The November Silicon Valley NewTech Meetup was held at the AOL campus in Mountain View this month with over 100 entrepreneurs, VCs, bloggers, programmers and executives in attendance.

Kudos to Vincent Lauria for growing into a monthly must-attend meetup.

This time around, we tried something a bit different – video instead of pictures! Alison McNeill was out there interviewing the presenters to help viewers get a better sense and perspective of each featured company.

SF Beta Video Interviews

As part of the continuing saga of video interviews with the latest players in tech, Alison McNeil, Jeff Smith and the rest of the PR2.0 crew headed up to SF Beta to hear poetry?

Yes, it’s true. No demos this time…just Haiku.

Presenters included:
Meetro (Vinnie Lauria / VP)
CivicEvolution (Brian Sullivan / Founder)
Rooftop Comedy (Will Rogers / Co-Founder)
ShopCastTV (Eric Swan / Founder)
The Forbin Group (Cindy Phung / Worker Bee)

Grab a bottle of bubbles at your local Longs or RiteAid, get outside and commence blowing.

Try to make one very big bubble, gander, marvel at its size, call all of your friends to see it, and then, pop. Pop? That’s so 1.0.

Now, do it again…but, be careful…don’t let this one pop. Instead of filling it with air, try injecting a bit of hope and enthusiasm into each blow.

Unfortunately I had to miss what turned out to be an amazing party. I had to sneak-in one last camping getaway with the family before the end of summer. Laurence (Lo) Toney, VP Marketplace Operations, art.com, attended TechCrunch 7 and was gracious enough to provide us with his wrap-up report.

Interview with Vincent Lauria of Silicon Valley Newtech Meetup

Silicon Valley NewTech Meetup is on the fast-track to become a must-attend monthly event. Similar to STIRR, SVNT showcases new technology and attracts prominent and up-and-coming executives, technologists, programmers, marketing gurus and VCs.

Vincent Lauria is the founder of SVNT and is also the VP of products for Meetro, an online service that combines the best features of messengers and social networks together with location.

STIRR 1.5 – I prefer my networking events stirred, not shaken

The August STIRR mixer was held last night at Blue Chalk in Palo Alto and it was a HOT event – literally. No A/C on a hot August night…but still, the place was packed until the very end.

This was STIRR’s fifth event and appeared to be its biggest to date. What sets STIRR apart is that it is an effective mix of “live” social and business networking among a highly qualified crowd of tech innovators, Web 2.0 execs, entreprenuers, VCs, bloggers, and journalists. Kudos to the STIRR team:

August Silicon Valley New Tech Meetup

I attended the Silicon Valley NewTech meetup this week at the new DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Gary offices in “East” Palo Alto.

Part of the new batch of technology networking events, SVNT spotlights new and and cool tech and Web 2.0 companies for an audience comprised of programmers, VCs, engineers, CxOs, VPs, and marketing professionals.
