Jaiku confirmed today that Google *hearts* the lifestream/microblog underdog, officially announcing that the previous rumors of a potential acquisition were true.

The first question that I’ve been asked over and over again was why didn’t Google acquire Twitter and whether or not I think Yahoo will be forced to respond with the acquisition of Twitter or Pownce.

Yahoo’s New Social Network Mashes Facebook with Myspace

I received an invitation from Lee Oden to jump into Yahoo’s new Mash social network and while I reserve a more in depth post for later, I definitely wanted to take a moment to share some initial reactions and assessments.

First, Y! Mash is cute. Yes, cute.

It’s more related to Myspace than Facebook, so it’s definitely not the leading contender to channel a river of relevance or act as the premier online hub for your personal brand – at least not in a Facbook capacity anyway. But that doesn’t mean that we should write it off either.

As I’ve written in the past, Facebook is the most legitimate and productive social network for business professionals on the Web today. Not only does it connect people with other contacts, but it also, either intentionally or unintentionally, evolved into a powerful platform for aggregating all online activity to showcase a professionally wrapped package of expertise, personality, networks, and experience.

Web 2.2 Starts Tomorrow – Agenda and Topics Published

Chris Heuer sent a note that the Web 2.2 agenda is coming together based on several high quality proposals that were made for the talk topics. But, they also need your input (see below).

If you have suggestions, all is not lost, as there will be open space sessions that will run concurrently (except for the Thursday morning BrainJams which they encourage everyone to participate in, and possibly the ‘Surprise!’ sessions.)

I’d like to see a discussion of new opportunities for Tags outside of Technorati.

Greg Narain of BlueWhale Labs and Social Roots and I were speaking about the idea of Tag Beacons recently during the Webguild Web 2.0 event and how they could benefit conference organizers during pre- and post- show blogosphere coverage.
